his is my favorite picture so far out of all the ones I’ve posted for my 365 challenge. My boyfriend, Felipe and I recently started learning Acro Yoga (acrobatic yoga) together. It just kinda made sense to and works perfectly for us. He’s a giant (6’2), I’m the right size to be a flier, He has a history in Capoeira, I also have a background in MMA and cheerleading. One day I was (a little too hyper) jumping off the couch doing ninja kicks then ballerina swirls, I purposely told him at the last possible second to catch me (not expecting for him to) and he did. Then thats when I pitched the idea at him. I pulled a couple videos up, showed him a couple pictures off google, and ten minutes later he’s posting me up like this as if we’d done it before. Granted, it wasn’t perfectly smooth the first time or two around, but it only took a couple attempts later to go from the Front Bird pose, to Free Bird pose, then on to this beauty, the Bow pose. I really enjoy doing acro yoga with Felipe. It enhances our communication, trust and fun in a different level then normal day-to-day activities/events. Plus, who wouldn’t want to be weightless and twirl around like the ninja-ballerina that I am? 😉 We have some other pretty cool poses that we’re practicing now and you will definitely see more of our poses as we learn them.
If this has inspired/encouraged you to try acro yoga or any other form of yoga, please, please, please take all the necessary safety persuasions. It is harder then it looks and it always helps to have a spotter aiding both positions. Felipe and I are just a little too stubborn to have a spotter and currently lack knowing friends who partake in yoga. Otherwise, we would have a spotter. I’m excited to hear your encouraging and inspiring feedback on my newly loved past time!!
Lots of love from Fel & I!!!
